24. 1. 2017

PRAGUE (Autofox) - There were 259,752 new passenger cars (+12.4%) registered in the Czech Republic in 2016, of which 64,368 cars (+11.9%) were registered by individuals, representing a share of 24.8% (2015: 24.9%) of the total registrations. A total of 68.2% accounted for legal entities (177,277 cars, +14.9%) and 7% for other operators (18,107 cars, -6.1%), as results from the statistics of the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, developed by the Czech analyst firm Medea Research (Medea Group).

According to Medea Research statistics, private individuals registered 13,738 Skoda cars (-7%), 9,720 Hyundai cars (+6.6%), 5,738 Dacia cars (+33.1%), 3,615 Kia cars (+1.9%), 3,294 Opel cars (+21.2%), 3,261 Volkswagen cars (+11.4%), 3,221 Peugeot cars (+21.5%), 2,995 Toyota cars (+41.3%), 2,962 Renault cars (+19%), 2,280 Citroen cars (+20.3%), 2,016 Suzuki cars (+43.3%), 1,873 Ford cars (+10.6%), 1,640 Mitsubishi cars (6.3%), 1,555 Mazda cars (+29.9%), 1,228 Honda cars (+48.3%), 1,158 Nissan cars (+0.4%), 1,010 Seat cars (+37.6%), 654 Fiat cars (+77.2% ), 634 Mercedes cars (+33.8%), 471 BMW cars (+39.3%), 256 Subaru cars (-6.2%), 244 Audi cars (-3.2%), 187 Volvo cars (-2.1%), 143 Jeep cars (+40.2%). As for the other brands, consumer registrations amounted to fewer than 100 cars.

The registration statistics by private individuals, however, does not reflect consumer demand for new cars (or very indicatively), as part of the private individuals purchases cars on operating leases (where the owner is a legal entity – mostly a leasing company).
