PRAGUE (Autofox) - The finalists of the poll Car of the Year 2017 in the Czech Republic are in alphabetical order the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Seat Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and Volvo V90, organizing agency Sport-Press informed.

In this year, the jury consists of 25 motoring journalists and five virtual members representing the public vote.

"Motoring fans were most interested in the Skoda Kodiaq (19,117 votes), followed by Volkswagen Tiguan (10,653) and Volvo V90 (10,467). Then, however, there was a split of opinion. Fourth place went to the BMW M2 (8,145) and fifth to the Ford Edge (7,453)," Sport-Press stated, adding that the model in the last place received 913 votes.

The public agreed with journalists in 60%, Sport-Press also mentioned. However, the agency did not disclose the voting results of the expert jury.

The jury then chose three brand new models (without a direct predecessor), three models of the Volkswagen Group, two sister models, two models produced in the Czech Republic, one model missing in the test drives.

On January 25, 2017, the final five will be under the scrutiny of judges during test drives at the Berchtold Castle Hotel in Kunice-Vidovice.

"One of the innovations of the 23rd year of the Car of the Year in the Czech Republic is the involvement of all racing fans into the second round of voting. They can thus participate in selecting the bearer of this prestigious title. The official website AutoRoku.cz is again a mediator until February 28, 2017. Moreover, all respondents are automatically included in the competition for an annual hire of a car, which will become the Car of the Year 2017 in the Czech Republic," Autoweek.cz wrote.
